Newmarket Plan For Bear
Kodi Bear (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) looks a highly progressive horse of late and indeed his trainer Clive Cox, who handled champion sprinter Lethal Force (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) feels he may the best he has trained. Following his smooth win in last week’s G2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood the 3-year-old is now rated 118 but Cox is considering another race in Group 2 company before taking on the best milers around. The Lambourn trainer has nominated the G2 Joel S. at Newmarket Sept. 25 as a possibility and commented, “Kodi Bear has come out of Saturday’s victory very well. I am thrilled with his progress during the second half of the season. The conditions of the Joel S. suit him very well as he avoids a Group 2 penalty and he is a possible runner. He is also in the G1 Prix du Moulin, although that is in ten days time so we have every base covered. I am relaxed about underfoot conditions for him as he has already shown that he acts on both fast ground and soft ground.” Kodi Bear has been ridden in his last two races by veteran French jockey Gerald Mosse who also rode the former Clive Cox trained Reckless Abandon (Exchange Rate) to a pair of Group 1 victories in 2012.
